The Women in Design & Technology Series aims to bridge the gap between male and female entrepreneurs by celebrating the accomplishments of women in the design & tech industries that go largely unseen or rewarded. While statistics show the number of female entrepreneurs is increasing, the percentages remain disturbingly low. Damsels recognizes that the problem stems from a lack of support in the community, too few dedicated mentors, and little encouragement at a young age to pursue a design-related or technology-centered education.

The series serve as a platform to tip the balance and highlight successful female entrepreneurs who have made great strides in the design and technology arenas
in New York City. Each conversation will be moderated by a member of Damsels in Design, while guest speakers will reveal tips and tricks for launching your own start-up, give advice on how to excel in the design and tech industries, and provide insights on what advantages exist for women entrepreneurs.

And what better place to host an event for our members and the entire design community at large than General Assembly! The largest collaborative workspace and technology incubator in New York City, General Assembly is a campus for technology, design, and entrepreneurship.
